When it comes to temperature control system, you will find it is pretty popular in our life. It stays in the place where you work and live, and has played a more and more important role in our daily life. HVAC system, that is temperature control system, is a system which helps to comfort the room temperature and it is an end-user-driven system. It differs from different building design and users’ requirements.
The multi-room temperature control system, or call multi-zone HVAC system, is a way to precisely control each area temperature in multi-zone buildings such as office building, an apartment with 2 or more rooms, hospital, or schools.
For public buildings, such as office building, usually each room comes with multi Fan coil units. This kind of multi-zone temperature control system needs below main components:
1. Fan Coil Unit: how many fan coil units needed depends on the size of the space. This is essential for heating/cooling efficiency and need to be designed by specialist.
2. Ducts: deploy duct is also a skilled task. The well designed ducts could save much money of materials and the heating/cooling efficiency too.
3. Thermostat: FCU thermostat, the fan coil unit control panel, usually comes with 3 speed fan/0~10V analog EC fan output and valve output(s). Thermostat control fan output and valve output to maintain room temperature.
For Residential building like apartments, the multi-zoned temperature control system serves 2/3 or more rooms/zones, instead of using multi-separated HVAC systems. There are many kinds of residential multi-zone HVAC system, such as Forced Air system and water underfloor heating system.
Forced Air System:
Usually it contains below main components:
1. One forced-air HVAC system: popular ones are furnace system, heat pump system and AHU system. This forced air system generates heated/cooled air, so it is the core of HVAC system.
2. Dampers + damper actuator: these devices are to control heated/cooled air to each zone.Theoretically, each zone requires a damper. The damper could either be fully opened/fully closed or partly opened/partly closed. it’s based on what kind of the damper actuator is. If it is 0-10v modulating output damper actuator, then damper could be partly opened/closed or fully opened/closed; if it is an on/off output damper actuator, then damper could only be fully open and fully closed.
3. Thermostat-to monitor and control zone temperature: each zone install a thermostat which comes with damper output and built-in temperature sensor. According to the differential value between set-point temperature and zone temperature, thermostat will control damper to open/close to control the heated/cooled airflow to each zone.
Water Heating System:
Multi-zoned temperature control of Water Heating System, the simplest one is each room installs a thermostat with 3A valve output terminal; if a manifold is used, it is recommended for below central control solution.
The WiFi Wireless Water Central Control Solution, it contains:
4-8 loops manifold
4-8 actuator, each actuator controls one zone water flow.
Wireless Central control box , HTW-31-X8/HTW-31-X8W
RF Wireless thermostat
WiFi gateway/HUB
The WiFi Wireless Thermostat solution allows users to control each zone temperature by smartphone, and the wireless design make home look more beautiful without many wires exposed outside affecting the appearance. The main solution shown as below picture:
