Heat pump system and conventional ac system are two main kinds of HVAC systems (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Cooling). It is a difficult decision when it comes to choose between a heat pump system and a conventional air conditioning system for your home or business buildings. What is a heat pump system? How about the conventional air conditioning system? What are the main differences of these two kinds of air conditioning system? How they work and are controlled?
Heat pump is a device which can transfer heat/cool energy from one place to another, which mainly consists of a condenser, an expansion valve, an evaporator and a compressor. It is the main product in heat pump heating cooling system. Conventionalair conditioning system also refers to conventional air conditioner, or central air conditioning units, which main function in summer is to transfer heat from inner rooms to outside to cool ambient temperature. Main difference between conventional AC unit and heat pump system is that there is reverse valve in the system, in which heat pump can reverse air flow direction and transfer heat/cool from outside to raise/lower indoor temperature by controlling reversing valve built in compressor. Comparing with heat pump system in heat mode(cooling mode, both system works almost same), conventional air conditioning system needs to rely on electric resistant heat strips or gas furnace unit to produce and distribute warm air to heat rooms.
How heat pump system and conventional AC units work?
Thermostat plays an essential role in these two kinds of system control. Heat Pump 2 StageThermostat has 2 compressor output to control 2 sources heaters or cooler; two stage furnace thermostat refers to 2 stage conventional air conditioning control, which also has 2 terminals to control 2 heater/cooler. Generally speaking, North American market thermostats have terminals which can compatible with both conventional AC unit system and heat pump system in one unit. For example, Hotowell HTW-MT08 and HTW-MT06 multi stage WiFi thermostat, below shown as 2 stage heatpump thermostat wiring and 2 stage furnace thermostat wiring for reference.
Besides thermostat, we have other HVAC accessories such as motorized valve, flow switch, if interested to talk more in details, welcome to contact Ms. Tiana for more information.
